My trip is at an end

kristin started classes today, so Bruno and I have been here by ourselves. He's been pretty good. he didn't even cry this morning before I had a chance to take him out. i finished writing all my post cards, but I still need to get 12 more. So many post cards... Never again! I hope people like them. I've been watching a lot of anime. we finished Puuchi Puri Yuushi yesterday. I really lked that one - but I started crying during the last few episodes. "You're crying." "Yes! I cry during everything. how long have you known me!" then Kristin was on the bed and I was behind her on the couch and I blew my nose. She turned around. "Shut up. Don't look at me." I was a mess.
Right now I'm watching Fruits Basket. Sort of. I watch when I can - but it's okay, I've seen these before. i know which ones are important. We also watched His an dHer Circumstance - but Kristin doesn't have all of them. So we don't really know what happens. We also finished watching the first two seasons of Psych! that show is so awesome. Yesterday we had Jamba Juice and did Psych quotes all the way home.
On Friday - Kristin and I finally left the apartment and we went to the gas lamp district. We at at the Hard Rock Cafe and got a pitcher of white sangria. It was so delicious. I was tipsy and funny after just two glasses. Ever since Christmas... so we got all dressed up and had fun! Sunday night we went out and saw Angels and Demons. i really didn't want to see it since I didn't like the DiVinci Code, but I really liked this one. Afterward we went to Chilis and I had half the chicken fajitas and a long island ice tea. I twas fun just hanging out and going to the movies...
Yesterday - Tuesday - we drove around getting Kristin's PT uniform and dropping off papers. She took me to the beach. I finally saw the ocean - Pacific - for the first time. It was so beautiful! I loved it. I combed down the cliffs tot he rocks and down into the water. It was very cold. I can't wait to go again when I come back. We ate at this Irish pub and had Shepherd's pie. I twas really yummy. Then on the way home we went to Jamba Juice. So delish.
Next time I'm here, I'm going to Disneyland with Kristin, and back to the beach. Kristin better save her money up. I have spent so much money! good thing I got my tax refund and credit card money so quickly! I'm sure Kristin will pay me back when she can.
I was planning on coming home on Saturday, but my mom wants me home sooner. It shouldn't be too bad, plus I'd get to sleep in my own bed and spend time with my cat! I miss Capa! So I guess I'll try to get home tomorrow.

First time to write since Roswell

The desert really began when we left Roswell. It wasn't all sand like I expected - it was shrubby. There were rocks and sand, but there were lots of bushes as well. Kristin drove from Roswell until we got onto the turn from 285N to I-40. I had to pee so bad we stopped at Cline's Corner, which was the only building you could see. It was a huge shop with lot so different things in it. you could get cacti, Indian jewelry, moccasins for the whole family, and a lot more. The next time we stopped for gas, these two guys were sitting outside eating subs. The next morning I saw them at the Grand Canyon! They were also going to San Diego - to the zoo. So weird! Kristin and I took some pictures out on the rocks at the Canyon. I hoped they turned out. i'm getting ahead of myself... After the Corner, I drove us through more desert and through Albuquerque. i really liked how that city looked from the highway and the desert just got more beautiful as we went on. We got to the mountains and all these rocks - boulders - were stacked up perfectly. Like God placed them all by hand so they would stay. It was so gorgeous. I absolutely love the desert. It is so very hot though - different form Florida. We've gotten a nice collection of Star Trek toys from BK Lounge. We keep hitting them all the time to make random noises. Best meal toys EVER! We didn't make it to the Canyon until dark. we can kind of see it in the fading light, but we know its so much better in the full light of day. we don't want to drive to Vegas, so we try to find a campsite on the east side so we can crash in the car. Eventually we find one, but a guy with a motorcycle is already there. he lets us stay just because we are crashing in the car. we wake up at 5am with the birds and the sun to drive back to the main area. We leave before the gift stores are open so I have no postcards. I don't have enough from Roswell yet. i have to see if I can find any in San Diego. Maybe in L.A. if we ever get there. Anyway, we drive from the Canyon to Vegas passing through more deserts and mountains. when we get there, the city looks so dirty. We end up in a hotel that's all the way down the Strip pass the airport. Emerald Suites was actually very nice. I was really impressed. We got there and rested for a bit. The hotel had a shuttle to take us to the Strip, but it was too late for food. we were starving. We walked down the Strip - well up actually - in our dresses and heels earning us HUGE blisters. no Food, No Drink, No Gambling. We eventually ended up in Caesar's Palace and got a taxi back.
Walking through New york, New York was awesome because it was exactly like New York City! Way impressive. We saw the fountains at the Bellagio and on our way to Caesar's, we saw an Elvis and Marilyn Monroe impersonators. We left early from Vegas to drive to San Diego. We left at 7am, I believe. Yes, 7am. We drove over the Hoover Dam! That was exciting. After seeing all the power lines and stuff, I definitely want to be there if/when the zombie apocalypse happens. In Baker's, NV we stopped and got Fresh Alien Jerky and had my "fortune" told by an alien. It was fun. the jerky is good! It was close to Death Valley and Area 51, but we continued into California - Hoover's Dam? - We couldn't tell when the California state line began, so we "wooed" just in case. When we got to the check point, the guy said "It's Venus and Aphrodite." then he proceeded to ask us if we had any fresh fruit, or ice coolers, or baseball bats - to fend off all the guys that would be after us.
We finally arrived in San Diego and i was miserable and ready to be stationary. It was very hot in the sun and tolerable in the shade. Kristin went inside, and after deliberation, I took Bruno for a walk. Some guy saw me walk pass and followed me in his car! I was so freaked out! Anyway, I talked with him for a bit, but then he really started hitting o me. And when I tried to distract him and get him to go aay by talking on my phone, he got out of the car and leaned against my window! I called James and was so afraid! I tried to drive away and he left. James was worried for me. So i was scared all day yesterday when we were unloading. i still have yet to officially have vegetables. I bought broccoli.
We finished unloading and started to unpack. Kristin doesn't have a bed. She has a frame and memory foam - but no bed. I've been sleeping on the couch. Last night we fell asleep to Psych. Yesterday was exhausting. To day we went through more stuff, rearranged furniture and hung pictures. After buying lunch at Albertsons - a real grocery store - we started watching an anime which is so cute! It's called His and Her Circumstance. i want to buy the DVDs. We walked to get dinner at this Chinese place. i twas good and cheap. There was so much food - I have leftovers for breakfast. i am already to continue watching but Kristin is talking to Loving and she turned off the light. She talks to him way too much. When I get a boyfriend, there will have to be certain rules. Other than that I have more ideas for my story. Can't wait to write - did I mention there is no Internet - at least legally? I had to call Brice and let him know. Yay! She's finally getting off the phone and we can watch anime again!

I am without internet for now. I will be writing to post when I can.

Aliens and Desert

Last night we landed in Roswell at about 7pm ish. We don't exactly remember. Might have been 6pm. This time traveling thing is difficult. We checked in to the Best Western in Roswell and went to dinner at Farley's. Farley's is a bar/grill/tavren. Kind of like Boomer Jakc's in Hurst, but they have this superhero/comic theme. It was really interesting on the back of the menu were life philosophies like "A penny saved is a congressional oversight" and "If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you." I had a corndog. I haven't had any leafy greens in a while and I miss them a lot. yesterday when we were on the road, Kristin made me turn on the iPod because I danced like a white girl to the rap. I was distracting. Anyway, we went to CVS and then headed back to our room. In the morning our car was decorated with Roswell and an alien head. As if they didn't know we were tourists already. We had breakfast then headed to the UFO Museum which didn't open for 10 minutes so we went to a little gift shop in which we bought postcards, bumper stickers, etc. We were honked at 3 times the whole 10 minutes we walked around. the museum was neat and they had a "Roswell" poster! I miss that show. We left Roswell at 11am, going 285N. I was going to make Kristin stop, but that's okay.
We should make it to the Grand Canyon just before sunset. We'll take pictures and then head to Vegas! Kristin is driving now because she isn't afraid to get a ticket. I'm driving to Vegas. The land is all toasted dead grass and mountains int he distance. I've been so bad with not making any videos. i will tonight at the Canyon. my story should also get a lot better formed.

Texas didn't take that long to drive across

I wanted to do a video blog, but I'm just too tired to get the camera rolling. Texas took a while to drive across, it seemed like it would last a while, but it was over before I knew it. Entering New Mexico was fun and we took a picture with a Roswell sign. Right now Kristin and I are sitting in the Best Western looking at our computers. Breakfast was amazing. Rylee was adorable, as usual. She's a bit of a noisemaker now, but that's just normal. It was fun starting to drive across the vast terrain of the West. There were mountainous objects, not really mountains, but not quite hills. There were lots of farms and such. We also passed through towns that appeared to be ghost towns. Tomorrow we're driving to the Grand Canyon. I will be taking about a million photos. But first, we're going to the UFO museum and buying alien stuff. There is more to write, but right now, I'm just so tired. I'm writing on the road, so I'll come backward and post when I can.

Answer: No, there is no picture of the Big Rig. Kristin woke up just in time to see it, and I was trying to get us through the traffic without getting into an accident. Plus, it was too dark the picture would've have turned out.

Sunny Day in Texas

I just saw my first cactus on the I-20W just along Brack Ranch. We are about 100 miles west of Dallas. It's not exactly mountainous, but these are some big hills. there are all these yellow flowers along the side of the highway. We are driving pass many buildings that are desolate, empty, rundown and dirty. We've reached chapter 21 in Twilight. It's getting exciting. Tonight we'll be in Roswell, NM. We just passed 3,4,5 big red Haliburton trucks. I don't know what kind of equipment they have. Even though we got a ton of sleep last night I'm still wanting to close my eyes. It's pretty, but lonely out here on the road. A little daunting.
There is a house on the top of the hill we just passed. it looks over to the road. I think it would be nice to have a home out here to get away from.
I was so happy ot be in Texas with my family last night. i llove it here to smuch. my family is fun. Jack wasn't there, and I talked to Robert a very little bit. I will see Jenn, Rylee, Aunt Karen and Uncle Mark in two weeks at the beach. We made it in record time. They thoguht we had sped the hole way. the 12 hours I was driving I drove exactly the speed limit. We are driving beside a tank, litterally. It was HUGE. Anyway, last night we arrived at Jenn's around 4pm. Dallas was rainy. We had dinner atthe Keeker's Patio Bar and Grill. Cheap and good. Kristin and I had burgers and whine - 2 glasses. Since Christmas I have been such a light weight. Kristin and I went to sleep as soon as we got back to Jenn's. Breakfast at the Keeerks was delicious and Robert, Ashlee, and the kids weren't there in the morning. Robert was being "domestic" Now we're driving pass cacti, almost mountains and new ghost towns.

Tejas - 19 hours and an exploded big rig!

We finally made it to Texas! We got stuck on I-75, 28 miles south of I-10 in Florida for almost 2 hours last night! We made basically record time even though we didn't speed! and we had that top of a dead stop. Oh! That dead stop happened because this big rig exploded! It looked like from the middle of the cargo exploded. I have no idea what was inside.
Anyway, we're at Jenn and Chris's place tonight and we're leaving tomorrow after breakfast for Roswell, NM. I will do a video post tomorrow.
If you have any questions or anything about my trip or whatever, let me know and I'll try to answer them.

12 hours in - must be Louisiana

"I've never felt so lost. I've never felt so much at home. Please write my folks and throw away my keys."
My favorite thing about radtrips is getting to see the stars without the lights of the city. the hardest part is staying awake on the endless road with noting to keep you awake - except for maybe almost running off the road. We won't tell Kristin about this since she wants to keep a tally of "How many times Ashley almost kills us while driving". Last night about 11ish, we got caught in a dead stop on I-75 N 28 miles south of I-10W. we sat still with the lights off for at least 30 minutes, then the next hour was slow going. turns out the 7 police cars colsed down 2 lanes for a big rig that looked like it exploded. i only got a quick look while trying to avoid an accident. I didn't see any other car involved, which is good. the cops were talking to the driver. the truck look like it exploded from the middle.I kept driving. We were finally out of Florida at 5 am this morning. Alabama and Mississippi were done by 8am. Nice and short. We've filled up on gas twice - both in Florida. i need to get some sleep now. just a few hours before we get to Texas!

On the road!

Here we go! It finally officially begins!

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Okay...

I think I'm all ready to go. I'm just uploading all my pics and videos so that I can clear them off for the trip. I've got Capa, my cat, all set to be fine while I'm gone. Uploading music on the ipod right now... I'm just about set!

26 Hours and 21 Minutes to go!

3 days!

Only 3 more days until the GSP Roadtrip begins! Kristin HAS to be here Friday afternoon so we can leave that night. My music is almost all loaded up, but I still have to finish cleaning and packing. Tomorrow is my packing and buying last minute things day.

Sarah is in town tonight and it's senior night at Switch! I am so excited! I'm so glad I get to see Sarah and she didn't show up while I was gone. We're hanging out tonight after Switch. Holl-er. Woot. Woot.

Also, I'm collecting addresses to send postcards on my trip. So if you want me to send you some, you better get me your address!

Pinky, but a farmer no longer

In one short week I will be eating biscuits and gravy with Kristin, Jack, Jennifer, and the rest of the Keekers. Three youngsters will be underfoot and hopefully Rylee will be crawling by then! After that, I will be driving off westward with Kristin and her dog Bruno.

Yesterday I went to the beach with some friends. I was determined to get rid of that farmer's tan, and I've finally managed it in perfect time for my trip. Hopefully the pinkish reddish sunburn will go away before my trip. I will be packing lots and lots of sunscreen.

Star Trek <3

I just got back from seeing Star Trek in a 3-story IMAX. Pretty good. Definitely worth it, but it would've been more worth it at Pointe Orlando. I still loved it. I am in love with it. JJ Abrams is genius. Now, I should really go back and watch the other 10 movies.

Beach Day tomorrow! First of the summer.

Cinco de Mayo!

Not that it's really an American holiday. Woot! Let's celebrate Mexico's independence... um yeah no that's okay. Maybe it's bigger in Texas? idk

Today went house renting hunting today with Lindsay and Whitney. We also had pancakes that I made! They were pretty good. We only got to look inside one place, and it wasn't really the ones that were being rented out. We drove around to a bunch of different places, hopefully we'll get calls back about some of the cheaper ones.

Dinner with Randi was a blast. It's been so long since we've hung out because she goes to school at Flagler. We spent a lot of time at Chilis tonight eating and chatting. Then we ran into Ryan and Jen as we were leaving so that was funny.

I had found out something about HB today. I can't explain it right now, but I will soon.

Today was officially the first day of summer for me. I had my last exam last night and I was done in 20 minutes. I think I did very well on the test. About ten days until my roadtrip. I am so excited! I cannot wait to see Kristin and begin our journey. It's going to be rocking!

Directing Screeners

Over all the screenings went very well. There were a few that I wasn't quite sure what I was seeing, but over all, very well done.
Friday night after the screenings there were probably 30 of us at Chilis, and I had an absolute blast! Plus, did you know Chilis has a value menu? They have 10 meals for under $7! So for Friday and Saturday I spent less than $20 on two dinners! It was really nice. Well it helps that I also only had water to drink.
The two films that stood out to me were Field of Fire(?) and The Silver Moon. Field of Fire was a D1 and The Silver Moon was a D3. The Silver Moon was predicitable, but that didn't make in any less enjoyable. Field of Fire kind of made you think at the end. I'm looking forward to all of the D1 and D3 diretors' next films. Next week are the capstones!
Now I think I'm going to go watch Pearl Harbor... j/k!
